Big Fat Super Swap and Super Coat Fund

Super Swaps

Hannah is the organizer of both the Big Fat Super Swap, and the Inbetweenie Super Swap, as well as the creator and coordinator of the Super Coat Fund.

The Big Fat Super Swap is a donation-based swap meet that aims at combating clothing scarcity for the plus size community at low or no cost to attendees. The Inbetweenie Super Swap focuses on the smaller side of the plus size spectrum with the same goal. Both swaps happened several times year in different locations, and Hannah and the team put on 11 swaps between 2018 through 2019. The 2020 swaps were cancelled and pivoted to a Virtual Mystery Swap to work through our stock. No swaps occurred in 2021-2023, but we set new records with our Super Coat Fund.

Super Coat Fund

The Super Coat Fund is a mutual aid program to buy new or donate like-new coats to plus-size folks in need, with the prioritization of larger-size folks.

In 2018, the first year of the coat fund, we donated 19 coats.
In 2019, we raised money for 31 coats and received 3 other usable donations for a total of 34 coat donations.
In 2020, we changed our method due to COVID-19 and were able to achieve our stretch goal of 25 coat stipends ($75) and set a donation record to give all 21 applicants $90 to fully fund or partially fund the purchase of a new coat of their choice.
In 2021 we raised $4,590 to give out 54 coat stipends of $85 each. We exceeded our original goal by over 200%
In 2022 we raised $4,575 to give out 61 coat stipends of $75 each.

To date, the Super Coat Fund has raised $13,960 and has given out 198 coats or stipends.
